Why I wrote God’s Perfect Size

Why I wrote God’s Perfect Size

Long story short, I was trapped; held hostage in a body that was slowly succumbing to the ill effects of obesity with no escape.

If you had known me back then at the height of my food addiction, you would never have been able to tell how broken I was.  I could fake it with the best of them.  I acted confident and spoke with poise.  I could make almost anyone think I was fine, even happy in my skin.  And there were days I believed I was.  But most days, I was hiding behind a facade.  I hid because I had to.  I knew I was fragile and trapped in an endless cycle of overeating.  I also learned early on there was no escaping my prison of flesh. Even now, as I type these words, I feel myself tearing up for the broken little girl in me, who lived in a claustrophobic world of shame and self-destruction.

2 Peter 2:19

“They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.”

You might be waiting for me to get to the good part.  The part where I tell you I found a magical cure for the low, low price of 19.99.  I can’t tell you that.  Even though we have never met in person, I care too much about you to lie to your face.  I NEVER found a magical cure.  As a matter of fact, no diet, meal plan, or all-knowing guru could heal what was really holding me hostage to food.  And none of those things can save you either.  I hope that statement doesn’t make you feel helpless because there is no way out!

The only way out is not famous or glamorous or without controversy. The truth is you can eat dinosaur kale until you turn a deep rich shade of green and it won’t matter.  Real freedom comes from Jesus alone! It took nearly half my life to figure out that God is the only one who can set the captives free. My liberty was wrapped up and waiting at the feet of an ancient, empty cross.  And your freedom is waiting for you in the same place.

2 Corinthians 3:17

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

If you want to know why I wrote God’s Perfect Size, I’ll tell you.  It’s the story of how God heard my broken cries in the night.  He felt my shame and hopelessness, and he rescued me from it all.  He walked with me step by step for nearly a year until I could stand fully in freedom.  The weight loss was just a bonus.  This book shares my story.  It also shares Biblical principles you will need to fight for your freedom from food addiction as well.  Let God in on your struggle.  You don’t have to fight alone!  God loves you and will fight for you.  Are you ready to take back your life; your health?  Take the battle the enemy of your soul and become God’s Perfect Size.  Your father is waiting…
